Greece Weather Warning Update: Heavy rainfalls, hail storms, snow

Greece’s National Meteorological Service updated on Thursday its weather warning and extended it until Saturday, March 18, 2023. The update forecasts heavy rainfalls, powerful winds and possible hail storms in several regions across the country, with the islands expected to be heavily hit.

Winds will be blowing with intensity 0f 6 to 7 Beaufort and a drop of temperature is expected.

Regions forecast to have locally strong rainfalls on Thursday and Friday, March 16-17, 2023.

Affected will be regions in the north and eastern Aegean Sea, intermittently affecting the Cyclades islands and Crete.

From Thursday night the storms will reach the eastern parts of Thessaly, the Sporades islands, central and eastern Central Greece and Evia.

The storms will hit Crete on Friday.

Attica is forecast to experience stormy weather on Friday.

According to meteo.gr snow falls are forecast on the mountains of the continental Greece, and in semi-mountainous areas of central and north parts of the country.

The phenomena are forecast to weaken on Saturday morning in Crete, later in the day in Thessaly and central and eastern Central Greece and Evia, the Sporades islands, and the rest of the country.

The region of Attica will experience stormy weather on Friday.
