Greece’s Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos and his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar will meet next week in the earthquake-stricken areas in southeast Turkey.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 and Panagiotopoulos’ visit will be accompanied with a dispatch of new humanitarian aid for the earthquake-stricken citizens.
The meeting of the two defense ministers does not seem to have any particular agenda regarding the bilateral relations and disputes.
It is rather a move of “political symbolism” after the earthquake in Turkey and the train tragedy in Greece.
It’s most likely that it is the last time the two defense ministers will meet as there are elections in turkey on May 14 and in Greece a week later, on May 21.
