With fireworks, crackers, the famous racket-war of Chios and a short visit to the church, Greeks celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, the loud fest left eight people injured, among them four children, aged 7-14. More and more people are now calling for the end of the custom.
The rocket-war, Rouketopolemos, on the island of Chios is a local tradition event held annually in the town of Vrontados at Resurrection night, on Holy Saturday. The rocket-war with explosives and homemade rockets is one of the most spectacular, yet dangerous Easter events. Also there, locals have called for the end of the custom setting at risk their lives, their animals and pets and their properties.

A 7-year-old girl suffered burn injuries on the face when a firework exploded and caught fire in the yard of a church in Malonas village on the island of Rhodes before the Resurrection festivities. The girl is hospitalized.

On the island of Symi, a 13-year-old boy was injured in the face and in the hand when a firecracker exploded right next to him. The boy lost several fingers of his right hand, has a face injury and he was airlifted to a hospital in Athens. the boy was standing with his father in the yard of the local church.
Another boy, a 14-year-old in Angistri in the Saronic Gulf suffered burn injuries and had fingers on his left hand ambulated when a firecracker hit him in a church yard on the island of Angistri, in the Saronic Gulf.
On Sunday, a 8-year-old girl was seriously injured in the hand when she picked up a firecracker outside a church in Pilos. Together with a friend they went to the church, the girl found the cracker that did not exploded the previous night. She picked up the firecracker that exploded in her hand. The girl has been transferred to a children hospital in Athens, is at risk to have one finger ambutaed, media reported.
In Leonidio, Peloponnese, four men were injured when they tried to fire 30 fireworks during the Resurrection. Two of them are hospitalized with serious burn injuries.
What does this have to do with Easter??? I’m bloody shocked!!! Stupid brainless idiots!!!! What is wrong with people???

Religion, not only opium for the masses but also an invitation to the brainless to let out their inner demons. I have the impression people everywhere think they can do whatever they want at the expense of others people, animals and Nature.
