A total of 23 Greeks have been successfully evacuated from Sudan so far, in convoys organized by France, Italy and Germany.
Among them are five Greeks evacuated on a flight of an Italian military aircraft.
All evacuees have been transported to Djibouti, where they will pick up by Greek military transport aircraft currently stationed in Egypt, once their number is sufficient for return to Greece.
“The process and actions for the release of our compatriots and their family members from this country are ongoing, always in close coordination with our EU partners and allies,” the Greek foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
A total of 120 to 150 Greeks have declared that they want to leave Sudan.
Greece plans to evacuate also Cypriot citizens.
