Missing Polish woman on Kos: One man arrested

A 32-year-old man was arrested on the island of Kos, as the main suspect in the disappearance of 27-year-old Polish national Anastasia-Patricia Rubinska, who have been missing since Monday, June 12. The woman was working at a hotel on Kos and was living together with her boy friend, also a Polish national.

According to local media dimokratiki.gr, the arrest followed witness’ statements and collection of video material from security cameras in the area, the 32-year-old man, who is a resident of Kos in the Marmari region, was identified and arrested.

According to state broadcaster ERT, the arrested man, a national form Bangladesh, had bought ticket to leave the island and travel abroad, something that raised authorities’ suspicions.

Citing police sources, protothema.gr reported that that five men from Pakistan and Bangladesh, were initially detained. The four were released after they told police they met the young woman at a super market, she was intoxicated and they offered her to bring her in their home until she felt better, something that indeed happened.

One of the Bangladeshis claimed that he had sexual intercourse with the woman and after that he left her outside and left. However, surveillance cameras did not show any move outside the house.

The disappearance of the 27-year-old woman was reported to authorities by her 28-year-old partner.

the partner reportedly told authorities that she had contacted him by phone at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday night and told him that she was in Marmari, had drunk too much and that someone would take her to the hotel with his motorcycle.

She then sent him her location so he could drive over to pick her up. However, when the partner arrived at the area he did not find the woman, Repeated attempts to contact his partner failed as her mobile was switched off. At 23:38 he managed to locate her through an application, her mobile phone was in Tigaki, some 5 km away from where she should have been.

The woman did not show up at work, as she was supposed to, on Tuesday morning, June 13, 2023.

A Missing Alert was issued.

Height 1.65, normal weight. She was wearing a pink dress with flowers, blue sunglasses and had a silver backpack.

Search for Anastasia-Patricia has been in full swing with the participation of Police, Fire Service and volunteer groups who are looking for her even with the use of a drone.

Despite the suspect’s arrest, Anastasia-Patricia remains missing on Friday afternoon.
