Residents of the city of Lamia in Central Greece were ordered to evacuate on Wednesday afternoon as a wildfire that has already burned down houses in the capital of the regional unit of Phthiotis.

The fire broke out in the north of the city in the area of Afanos and no firefighting forces were able to get it in control timely due to the strong winds in the area.
