An evacuation order was sent via the emergency number 112 to residents in the areas of Paliouri and Rizari at Marathonas, on the east coast of Attica, where a wildfire broke out at 14:40 on Wednesday afternoon.
According to local media, the area is filled with smoke and the flames are near the houses shattered in the two areas.
Firefighters have reportedly evacuated people with mobility issues.
Winds are blowing with intensity of 5 Beaufort, therefore firefighters remain on alert for possible rekindling of the fire, even though they managed to limit the blaze.
On alert are also firefighters in the nearby forest of Schinias, where patrol teams will be set up to protect it.
Police has reportedly shut down traffic at Schinias Avenue hindering anyone driving to the direction of Schinias beach.
Over 45 firefighters with 13 fire engines, 2 ground teams and 2 water-dowsing helicopters are operating to put it out, the Fire Service announced.
According to earlier information by the Fire Service the fire started in at least one plot and burned low vegetation.
