A “bomb threat” on an airplane from Tel Aviv to Eleftherios Venizelos international airport in Athens on Thursday evening mobilized authorities and special forces until it proved it was a prank by an alleged Canadian journalist.
According to preliminary media information, the man approached the info box at the airport at 6:10 p.m. on Thursday and said that there was a bomb on the airplane coming from Tel Aviv.
He reportedly claimed to be a Canadian journalist sent by his employees to Greece to cover the issue of Canadian air force flights evacuating Canadian citizens from Israel.
He claimed further that he wanted to “test the readiness of the Greek authorities in Eleftherios Venizelos international airport” and that’s why he said there was a bomb on a flight coming from Israel.
The 27-year-old Canadian national is being currently held at the airport security and is being checked by authorities also whether he is really a journalist.
He will be probably face charges for unnecessary mobilization of authorities.
When the flight fro Tel Aviv landed in Athens, the airplane was checked by special forces and trained dogs.
