Part of Poseidonos Avenue in Glyfada suburb in southern Athens will be closed to traffic on Thursday, October 26, after a World War II bomb was found.
The bomb was found during construction works at the old Athens airport. A controlled explosion is planned to neutralize the ammunition.
Part of Poseidonos Avenue, from Vergoti Square in Glyfada until Alimou Avenue, will temporary close from 00:30 a.m until 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The closure of both directions will be gradual and then full until the procedure is concluded.
Banned is also the temporary stop and parking of vehicles along Evryalis Street from 09:00 p.m. Wednesday until 11;30 a.m. Thursday.
Traffic police advises motorists to seek for alternative ways via Vouliagmenis Avenue and neighboring municipalities.
