Flights to and from the airport “Nikos Kazantzakis” in Heraklio on the island of Crete, will resume operation as of 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. 24 February 24, 2024, the Greek Civil Aviation Authority HCAA announced on Friday.
Cleaning works of the runway started on Friday, the HCAA added.



Operation of the airport was suspended for five days in February, 19-24, due to maintenance works of the tarmac on the runway.
The project was seen as complex and also absolutely necessary and its should be completed in record time to cause the least possible problems in the operation of the airport.
Passengers could alternatively use ferries or airplanes to the airports of Chania and Sitia.
