Authorities in Volos detained a 13-year-old boy child for the homophobic verbal attack against SYRIZA leader, Stefanos Kasselakis.
Kasselakis was delivering a speech in the city in central Greece on Sunday, when a voice was heard shouting at him “fa***t”.
The SYRIZA leader replied calmly saying “Be well, come and say it here.”
Immediately the minor was detained and taken to local police station.
The young boy was later released as Stefanos Kasselakis did not want to proceed with a lawsuit, He state that if the 13-year-old boy wants he can contact him and discuss with each other.
Kasselakis stressed that homophobia “is part of a Greece that must overcome is at some point.”
On Monday, Kasselakis spoke with the boy and his parents on Monday, media reported.
In the phone call that lasted 20 minutes both the boy and his parents apologized.
Kasselakis asked them to meet in Athens and the boy asked him to have a tour in the Parliament. The parents declared to be SYRIZA voters.
