Unprecedented: Locals in a small village on the island of Kefalonia asked for a postponement of a funeral in order not to cancel the annual festival, the major event in the village.
According to local media artinos.gr, a few days ago, a small village in Kefalonia was faced with an unusual and unpleasant situation, which caused a deep division among its residents.
inhabitants. A 55-year-old man originally from the village passed away, and naturally, his funeral procession and burial were scheduled to take place at his birthplace. However, a festival, one of the most important events of the village, was already planned for the same day.
One would have expected the event to be moved to another day to honor the deceased and show due respect to the family of the deceased. However, this did not happen. Instead, there was a proposal by the festival organizers to postpone the funeral, something that was impossible.
In the end of the dispute the village present a weird situation: the religious funeral service was taking place inside the church, while outside, just a few meters away, the preparations for the festival were in full swing.
The coal for the open grill was on fire, trays full of food were being arranged laughter and joy accompanied the preparations.
At night, while a family mourned the loss of their beloved one, the locals joined the festival, ate, sang and danced in full joy until the dawn.
