The wildfire on Pangaio Mountain in north-eastern Greece continues to rage for sixth consecutive day on Tuesday. The fire is burning down valuable forest and shrubland.

The wildfire is in a relatively remote part of Mt Pangaio whose highest elevation is 1,956 meters.
Pangaio is 40 km away from the city of Kavala and according to state-run news agency amna, the blaze is not close to residential areas, however fire zones have been set around villages, settlements and farms as a precaution.
A total of 280 firefighters with 46 fire engines with 25 firefighters on foot assisted by five water dropping helicopters and a firefighting aircraft are battling the blaze.

The wildfire broke out on Thursday, August 22, and has burned hundreds of acres of valuable forest and shrubland.
Some media speak of at least 2,400 acres of burned nature, not to mention the and charcoaled wildlife and their habitat.
