Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning as storm system “Atena” is moving from the West to the East will hit the country with heavy rainfalls, thunder and hail.
Storm “Atena” is forecast to reach Greece from the Central Mediterranean region on Monday night, September 9, leading to bad weather conditions until Wednesday afternoon, September 11, 2024.
The barometric low will bring strong rain and storms in west, central and northern parts of Greece, as well as the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean Sea. There will also be intense lightning activity, hail and strong, gusty winds.

EMY Weather Warning analytically
Strong rain and storms are forecast to last Monday to Tuesday afternoon and affect the areas of the Ionian islands, Epirus, western Central Greece and western Peloponnese.
From midday Tuesday until late in the evening, rainfalls will affect western Macedonia, Thessaly and eastern Central Greece.
From early on Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday afternoon, the bad weather will affect central and eastern Macedonia and the Sporades Islands.
From Wednesday morning until the afternoon, the bad weather will affect Thrace in NE Greece, and the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean Sea.
