The bodies of two women and two infants, aged 3 and 5 years, were recovered from the sea off the island of Kos on Wednesday, after a boat carrying migrants from Turkey to Greece sank late on Tuesday night.
Another six people were also picked up alive from the sea by members of the Greek Coast Guard.
In a Search and Rescue operation a total of 26 people were rescued. among them were 14 mean, 4 women and 8 minors.
30 people and the trafficker were onboard the survivors told authorities.
Rescued migrants in need of treatment were taken to the local hospital. Among them was an infant and one of the doctors on duty reportedly rushed to find baby formula, clothes and diapers
The remaining survivors and rest were transferred to the Identification Center on the island in the south Aegean Sea.
“I saw his little black body. I ran up to the clinic and looked for clothes and a diaper to put on him, then I gave him milk, He drank and smiled and that was his thank you,” the pediatrician doctor told local media.
Three coast guard ships along with a commercial vessel searched for more people in the area, the Coast Guard said in a statement.
