The “green” electricity tariffs for December 2024 range from 15.5 cents per kilowatt-hour to over 20 cents, according to the Regulatory Authority’s website where the new prices were posted on Monday.
The tariffs are higher than in November due to the rise in prices on the Energy Exchange.
Within the next few days, the Greek government is expected to announce price subsidies, which will affect not only residential but also business tariffs. ANT1 reported on Monday that the state subsidy is expected to be at 2 cents per KWh
The Regulatory Authority announced that the “green” tariff will continue to be offered by suppliers in 2025.
In October the government had announced the “green” tariff was to be canceled as of January 1. 2025, and customers should move to the “blue” one. End of 2023/beginning of 2024, when the tariffs were introduced, the Energy Ministry had urged customers to move to the “green” tariff.
Prices for December start at 15.499 cents per kilowatt-hour for the first 500 kilowatt-hours per month (this is the “green” tariff of the Public Power Corporation, which has offered a 68% discount on the basic price), while the night tariff is set at 14.514 cents. The full list of December prices for all tariff categories has been posted at the Authority’s website HERE.
PS Ever since it has been made per law easy for customers to change energy supplier even each and every month, the government that has been unable to get profiteering under control it leaves it up to the individual customer to pick up the best offer -as he has nothing better to do other than checking energy prices each month.
