Serial Flasher arrested in W. Athens after harassing 9 women

Greek Police has arrested a 34-year-old Egyptian man on Sunday night, accusing him of being the serial flasher who had been harassing women in Peristeri suburb of western Athens in the last couple of weeks.

The man was arrested in the early morning hours of Monday, following an undercover operation where two plainclothes female police officers were deployed in the area where the man was active.

In footage captured by a CCTV camera, the perpetrator started to follow one of the plainclothes officer apparently convinced to have found  his next victim to satisfy his sick appetites. As soon as he approached the woman, he pulled down his pants. A few seconds later, police officers run after the two and immobilize the attacker.

At least nine young women in the area have being complaining since December about the man’s actions.

The undercover operation was launched after a report filed on January 13, in which a young woman reported that a man chased her with his pants down as she was returning home.

The suspect has been permanently living in Greece in a suburb near Peristeri. He has been working at a furniture manufacturing shop.

After his arrest, he was argumentative and did not admit to anything he has been recorded doing.

“I have no connection. I live legally in Greece, I work and I am married and have a child,” he claimed.

His victims are reportedly expected to be called to give new statements.

When he was arrested, he was wearing the same clothes he was wearing when he attacked a 20-year-old student on the same street in December.

The 34-year-old man is accused of insulting sexual dignity and will appear before the prosecutor in the coming hours during the day.

  1. I am sure that the men he will now be sharing accommodation with will give him a very warm and friendly welcome.
