Temperatures remain low, at single digit also on Sunday even in the suburbs of southern Athens that usually have a mild climate. Around 10 0′ clock in the morning it was 6 degrees Celsius and the cats that insisted on their morning stroll in the balcony quickly changed their mind after less than 10 minutes outside and started knocking at the door.
After months of sunshine and warmth during the day, this belated winter makes you long for comfort food and a good fire in the fireplace.

The north wind is blowing with intensity of 5 Beaufort and it’s no wonder that snow fell on Mountain Parnitha in the North-West of Athens.

Snow fell also in the mountainous areas of Evia and Chania on the island of Crete.
According to National Meteorological Service EMY, temperatures are below the seasonal average and will prevail across Greece until Wednesday, February 12, while the weather is forecast to change for the better as of Thursday, February 13, 2025.
The lowest temperature on Sunday was recorded in Nevrokopi, northern Greece, with -10.3 C.
In Athens and Attica, light rain is forecast mainly in northern and eastern areas, while winds will be blowing with intensity 4-6 Beaufort and increase to 7 B in some coastal areas. Maximum temperature at 10 degrees Celsius.
Heavy rainfall is forecast for Crete, while intermittent light rain will affect parts of eastern mainland Greece, the northeastern Aegean islands, the Sporades, Evia, the Cyclades and the Dodecanese.
Mountainous regions, including Evia and Crete, may see light snow, with significant snowfall already reported in Evia’s highlands early Sunday.
