Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued an emergency bulletin warning of a weather deterioration with heavy rainfalls and storms.
The bad weather front will be of relative short duration and is forecast to strike Greece tomorrow, Sunday, May 25, 2025.

✅a. In Sterea, Thessaly and northern Evia from early Sunday afternoon until the evening.
✅b. In central Macedonia from early afternoon until late at night.
✅c. In Sporades islands in the evening – night hours.
✅d. In eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the northeastern Aegean from early evening until the early morning hours of Monday, May 26.

Sahara Dust
At the same time, the meteo service of the National Observatory of Athens has warned of increase concentration of Sahara dust due to prevailing southern winds.

Gradually, the dust will shift further east, with the effect that on Sunday, May 25, the eastern and southern parts of the country will be mainly affected.

From Monday, northerly winds will limit the transport of Sahara dust to the southeast and will contribute to its removal.
It should be recalled that meteorologists had forecast weather deterioration and temperature drop in the upcoming week and thus after the mini heatwave in the last few days.
