According to media, the 50-year-old jeep driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a bakery, dragging and seriously injuring the British tourist couple.
Local media kosnews24.gr noted that the 50-year-old driver of the vehicle, of Albanian origin, who was working at a hotel in the area, tried to park the jeep in front of the bakery.
However, he allegedly stepped on the gas instead of the brake and crashed into the bakery at high speed. The jeep does not belong to him but to another resident of the island and he did not have a driving license.
The driver was arrested and a case has been filed against him for manslaughter by negligence and causing bodily harm, based on articles 302 of the Penal Code and 94 of the Highway Traffic Code.
The Traffic Police on the island still investigates the tragic traffic accident.
