Greece’s Civil Protection has warned of Very High Fire Risk – Category 4 – in several parts of the country on July 3 and 4, 2025.
Fire Risk Forecast Maps are issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection.
For Thursday, July 3, Categoty 4 risk is forecast for:
- Attica & Kythera
- Evia
- Crete
- Peloponnese: Corinth, Argolida, Laconia, Arcadia
- Northern Aegean islands: Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Ikaria

Another warning is expected by the civil Protection later today for Friday, July 4.

It is currently highest fire season in Greece with wildfires raging and burning thousands of acres, setting human and animal lives at risk.
According to the Fire Service 115 forest and urban fires occurred in the last 24 hours.
The blaze is still raging in Ierapetra, Lasithi, southern Crete, on Thursday, while the big wildfire in Vourvurou, Halkidiki, northern Greece, appears to be under partial control.
The fire on the island of Kythera and in Laconia,southern Ploponnese, have forced evacuations.
