Athens taxi drivers have decided to cancel their second day of strike and therefore taxis in Athens will operate as usual as of 6 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Taxi drivers had launched another 48-hour strike on Wednesday and Thursday, November 5-6, to protest bills signed by the Transport and the Tourism ministries that would “harm the taxi sector in favor of the big interests” as they said.
Representatives from their union SATA had a “constructive” meeting with deputy Transport Minister Konstantinos Kyranakis.
“We had a fruitful discussion and the Minister was not informed about many of our issues,” SATA president Thymios Lymperopoulos told media.
Taxi drivers in Athens launched several strikes since early summer, however, the Minister had so far refused to meet with them.
The sector has a long list of requests and it remains to be seen how many of them will be met.
