A tragic end to the fate of the two French tourists who went missing on the island of Sikinos in June 2024: The body of one woman was found in a remote area of the island and was identified from the personal items next to the body.

The skeleton was accidentally found by two hunters.
According to information from local media cyclades24.gr, the woman’s skeleton was found in Sikinos, in a particularly difficult and bushy area of the island, by two hunters who happened to be passing by the spot.
An alarm was immediately raised, the mayor of Sikinos, Vasilis Marakis, was notified and on his part he immediately informed the competent authorities.
According to the same information, the human skeleton belongs to one of the two missing French women and the identification was made from the personal belongings found next to the body, such as a wallet and a bag.
After the discovery, the prescribed procedures such as forensic examination and police investigation were immediately initiated, while a new search operation has already begun with the aim of locating the second missing woman.
A huge Search and Rescue operation that lasted a long time was launched back in 2024 with extensive search on the island but without results. [KTG report HERE].
So far, authorities have not revealed which one of the two missing women has been found.
The developments are expected to shed light on a case that had remained in the dark for over a year.
