Greece’s Civil Protection has placed six regions in a state of mobilization (Red Code) during January 6-8 due to adverse weather conditions.
Western Greece, Epirus, and the Ionian Islands are under a state of mobilization (Red Code) from Tuesday through Wednesday, January 6-7, 2026.
From Wednesday through Thursday, January 7-8, the same level of mobilization will apply to Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, as well as the Peloponnese.
The decision was taken after the Risk Assessment Committee met on Monday, following the issuance of an emergency bulletin by the National Meteorological Service warning of thunderstorms in western and northeastern Greece from the early hours of Tuesday through early Thursday.
