Greek Foreign Minister, Giorgos Gerapetritis, confirmed on Sunday that Greece received an invitation by Us President Donald Trump to be a founding member of Gaza Peace Council.
“We are examining very carefully all the relevant documents,” the Greek FM said without elaborating further.
“I confirm that Greece has received an invitation from President Trump to become a founding member of the Peace Council. We are examining very carefully all the relevant documents. As you know, the establishment of the Peace Council is in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2803, for which Greece, as an elected member, voted positively,” Gerapetritis said from Kairo where he visited for a trilateral meeting of Greece, Cyprus and Egypt.
“Greece firmly supports all initiatives that promote peace, security and stability and, in this context, we will coordinate with our partners in the European Union, but also with other important friends and allies, such as Egypt,” he stressed adding “we prefer diplomacy over war and promote stability in the region instead of chaos. We believe in cooperation and understanding, avoiding hatred and division.”
Saying that he welcomed the start of the second phase of the US 20-point Plan, he argued that “a reformed and strengthened Palestinian Authority can be a reliable partner for peace,” and reiterated that Greece “will seek to be present in the coming day in Gaza.”
Egypt and Turkey reportedly issued responses to Trump’s invitation, saying that they were considering accepting the offer to join Gaza’s Board of Peace.
International media such as Reuters and Bloomberg have reported that participation to the Gaza’s Board of Peace is 1 billion euros and all the money collected will be under trump’s control who will also chair the Board.
Donald Trump is seeking to establish a new international body called the “Peace Council,” which he would personally lead and control, with the U.S. demanding that countries pay at least $1 billion for permanent membership, Bloomberg reported on Jan. 17, citing a draft charter and diplomatic sources.
Under the draft, Trump would serve as the council’s first chair with unilateral power to decide who gets invited. Each member state would have one vote, but all decisions would require the chair’s personal approval — effectively giving Trump veto power.
The charter states that member countries would serve three-year terms, extendable at Trump’s discretion. However, this limit would not apply to states that contribute more than $1 billion in cash within the council’s first year.
PS Difficult for Greece as well as for Cyprus that also received an invitation to refuse Trump’s offer. But 1 billion euros? for this money, Greece could buy another Belharra frigate from France, right?

It’s not the first time that the Devil has invited politicians to join him. But the price tag of $1,000,000,000 makes history.
Give the money to Trump and the only place it will go will be his pockets. You guys have NO idea what it’s like to live next to that “thing”.
Maybe they can collaborate and make a Trump Parthenon Hotel in Gaza.
And the $ 1 billion will probably go to the same account in Qatar where the money from selling some seized Venezuelean oil went.
