Missing German teenager Laura L. has been located in Berlin and thus in a children protection facility of the German capital, Greek Mega TV Live news magazine reported in the afternoon of Thursday, February 26.
According to initial information, the 16-year-old girl is in good health and will remain in a facility for the next few days, until the authorities decide on the next steps .
However, an hour later, Mega TV corrected its initial report saying it was German authorities who located Laura on Thursday morning on a street of Berlin and took her to a child protection facility where she stays. According to officially unconfirmed information, Laura was together with another person that has not been detained or arrested, though.
Laura went missing from the family home in Rio/Patras on January 6 and flew to Germany on the same day as it was later revealed.
The Greek Police were informed on Thursday afternoon, February 26, by the German authorities about the minor’s whereabouts. The Greeks are reportedly awaiting more details about the facility and eventually on how and with whom the young girl managed to fly to Germany and spent one and a half month “alone.”
Laura’s father, an Ukrainian doctor, had traveled to Germany a few weeks ago seeking for his daughter but returned to Greece without any positive results, while her mother stayed behind all this time.
The family had moved to Greece three years ago from northern Germany. Laura had reportedly not only problems in school as she was not competent of the local language and often complained about her father’s behavior.
While the family was still in Germany, the then 13-year-old child had spent a month again in a children protection facility.
What is of highest interest both for Greek and German authorities is why Laura left the family home in January.
Once she reveals the reason, this will be decisive for authorities to decide what will happen with her.
Laura is not wanted for any crime. She is just a 16-year-old girl feeling miserable in her family home.
This is a developing story…
