Inflation in Greece climbs to 3.9% in March 2026

The rate of inflation increased significantly in March 2026, rising to 3.9% from 2.7% in February and compared to an increase of 2.4% in March last year, the Greek Statistics Authority (ELSTAT) said on Wednesday.

The three main categories that primarily drove the rise in inflation were food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing costs, and transportation costs due to energy.

At the same time, the overall index recorded an increase of 2.6% in March 2026 compared to February 2026, versus an increase of 1.4% recorded in the corresponding comparison of the previous year.

As for harmonized inflation, it rose by 3.4% in March this year compared to the corresponding index of March 2025, against an increase of 3.1% recorded in the respective comparison of 2025 with 2024. It also increased by 2.1% in March compared to February, versus an increase of 1.9% recorded in the corresponding comparison of the previous year.
