An earthquake rattled the island of Skiathos with 4.7 on the Richter scale at 2:12 early afternoon on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
The epicenter was 8 kilometers west of the island and its focal depth also 8 km.
However, according to Athens University Seismological Institute, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.6 R, its epicenter was 2.5 km NNW of Skiathos and its local depth was 2 km.

The tremor was reportedly long and residents near the epicenter run out of their homes and businesses in panic.
No injuries or material damages have been recorded, other than objects in houses fell down.
The tremor was felt in the broader area, including Athens and other areas of Attica.
An aftershock of 3.3 Richter and another 2.4 followed.
Seismologists appear reassuring suggesting that this was a main earthquake. They closely monitor the phenomenon, as usually.
Surprise! Two hours later, at 4:07, another earthquake rattled the island with 4.8 R!
