Emir of Qatar, PM Mitsotakis discuss investments in Athens

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met at the Maximos Mansion in Athens on Wednesday.

According to Greek media, the talks are set to focus on investments and the latest developments in the Middle East.

PM Mitsotakis underlined Greece’s supportive stance towards the Gulf countries that were attacked by Iran. He also expressed his satisfaction with Qatar’s confidence – as expressed through investments – in the Greek economy, noting that this has recorded significant progress.

“Greece stood by all the Gulf countries and supported your country against an unprovoked attack by Iran,” Mitsotakis emphasized and added: “I appreciate Qatar’s commitment to investing in Greece. Our economy has recorded significant progress compared to previous years.”

On his part, the Emir of Qatar thanked Mitsotakis and Greece for its stance during Iran’s attack on the Gulf countries and stated: “I would like to thank you, Mr. Prime Minister, for standing by your friends in this conflict. Your economy will do well under your leadership and we look forward to other opportunities for investment in your country.”
