A 70-year-old Greek national, a passenger on the cruise ship MV Hondius, where a Hantavirus broke out, is scheduled to be repatriated to Greece later on Sunday.
The Greek national, a man, will be transported by a Dutch aircraft to Eindhoven Airport in the Netherlands and then transferred by a special Air Force flight C-130 to the military airport in Elefsina, western Attica.
The C-130 left Athens for the Netherlands on Sunday morning, on board are also a doctor and an ambulance nurse to accompany and assist the Greek citizen during the flight.
From the Elefsina there, he will be collected by an EKAV ambulance and taken to a specially equipped negative-pressure isolation room at Attikon University General Hospital, where he will be placed under mandatory quarantine for 45 days.
According to safety protocols for Hantavirus, six weeks under surveillance are obligatory.
The man, a 70-year-old pensioner, is in good health and asymptomatic, the Greek Health Ministry reportedly announced.
