Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning and a deterioration with heavy rainfalls and storms, which will be temporarily accompanied by strong winds (bourinia), a high frequency of lightning, while there is a possibility of local hail.
A change in the weather is predicted on Friday (12-06-2026) in northern and central Greece with locally heavy rains and storms, which will be temporarily accompanied by strong winds (bourinia), a high frequency of lightning, while there is a possibility of local hail.
The bad weather front is forecast to affect mainly Greece’s mainland the Sporades and Evia islands tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, June 12-13, 2026.


EMY Weather Warning
Heavy rains and storms are forecast:
a. In Macedonia from the pre-noon until the evening hours, except for the region of Halkidiki where the phenomena will continue until the early morning hours of Saturday,
b. in Epirus and Thessaly from noon until the evening hours,
c. in the Sporades and Evia from Friday evening until the pre-noon hours of Saturday and
d. in eastern Central Greece on Friday from the afternoon until the evening hours.
In addition the meteo service of the National Observatory of Athens, warns of the strengthening of winds on Friday 12/06 in the Northern Ionian Sea and on Saturday 13/06 in the Northern and Central Aegean Sea, where strong winds of medium intensity of 6 Beaufort will blow from northern directions.
Rainfalls will affect Greek capital Athens, too (see Maps below)
Small drop in temperature, which will be felt mainly in the eastern parts.
However, the change in weather will be short-lived, since on Saturday 13/06 in the west and on Sunday 14/06 throughout the country very good weather conditions will prevail, with limited instability in the southern mountainous mainland, a slight weakening of the winds and from Monday 15/06 a gradual increase in temperature.
