A suspected outbreak of gastroenteritis of the new E.coli was reportedly found in a German tourist on vaccation on an Ionian Greek island. According to radio Vima 99,5 FM, the 53-year-old tourist was spending her vacation on the island of Paxoi. She suffered of bloody diarrhea and complained to the Health Centre on the island.
The first analysis showed outbreak of E.coli bacteria, but the tests will identify the fatal strain is expected to be completed in the next 48 hours.
However, as the gastro E.coli has an incubation period of several days, it may well be that the tourist was infected in Germany. Meanwhile the woman has recovered from the disease and is back home. (source: in.gr).
