Greek Tax & Customs Officials on Strike, Sept 12-13

When we talk about Strikes in Greece, let’s not forget this upcoming strike as well. Tax and Customs officials plan a 48-hour strike, on September 12th and 13th 2011. According to their federations’ recommendations, the strike will be launched next Monday and Tuesday and threatens not only the government revenues but also the market supply.

The Federations consider this as a warning strike and threaten to repeat such actions or even go on a permanent strike. Tax and Customs officials oppose the government’s decision to refrain from keeping their salaries outside the new standards of the common payroll for all civil servants. The government took this decision after immense pressure form the IMF, EU and ECB technocrats controlling Greece’s public spending.

Have a nice and long weekend, guys!
