Greece’s tax owners decided to launch 24-hour rolling strikes as of November 5th 2012. The decision was taken on Friday, after they realized that the austerity measures package contains also an article that ‘opens the alternative market of limousines and mini vans,” as taxi owners said in a statement. They claim that they would need an additional or a special licence to to this and blamed the Association of Tourism Enterprises (SETE) for having pushed this article in cooperation with the Troika.
“We won’t sit with crossed hands. As of 5 a.m. on Monday, November 5th we start 24-hour rolling strikes, we take to the streets again and hope that the God of … tourism sponsors may help,” the statements concludes.
Taxis will be on strike across the country.
