All banks in Cyprus will remain closed until Thursday, March 28th 2013, local and international media (AP) reported on Monday late evening. The decision was taken by finance Minister Michalis Sarris after a recommentation by the governor of Central bank.
Earlier, on Monday afternoon media had reported, all banks on Cyprus woild open tomorrow Tuesday except for Bank of Cyprus and Cyprus Popular Bank that will open again on Thursday, March 28th 2013, international and local media reported citing sources from the Central bank.According to Cypriot SigmaLive, the reason for the later reopening of BOC and CPB is due to soft ware adjustment as the “good” part of CPB will be absorbed by the BOP. The adjustment apparently needs two days.
Central bank of Cyprus still needs to make official announcement and also determines if there would be any modification in the 100-120 euro cap for ATM withdrawal.
No news so far if the branches of BOP and CPB in Greece will be open tomorrow.
