A law suit has been filed against against Deputy Mayor of Heraclea in Serres, Northern Greece, who allegedly stole large quantities of food destined for needy. However his aim was not the personal consumption but the distribution of these food items to those picked up by the elected local politicians. Possible to secure votes and re-election.
According to news website Thestival.gr, 29 cartons with cheese, six cartons with pasta and 35 boxes with olive oil, total worth 1,000 euro, were stolen within two weeks in January from the municipality depot for the needy of the area.
Distribution of food for the needy is done through strict income criteria.
When the case flew up, the deputy mayor returned the staff. He is to face charges for stealing.
PS the post could also have the title “What’s in the cheese? – Votes…”
What a despicable man! He buys votes with cheese and pasta and olive oil meant to go the the poor? His filotimo has reduced to below zero. I write his name on…those parts of me I won’t mention!
trading cheese for votes is just a assumption of mine.
