Greece’s new – probably number 178 – taxation system is on the way. However it is still on public consultation on the government website. Only that the citizens cannot post their comments. Anyway, it was uploaded last week and Greeks still try to recover from the shock. The new taxation system that is praised to be ‘fair’ would call employees, pensioners and self-employed are supposed to pay more tax in advance. Self-employed even 80%.
The provision for the employees and pensioners has been reportedly withdrawn after the mass brain strokes and heart attacks and the recorded increased demand on anti-depressants at pharmacies counters.
The new ‘fair’ taxation system is still on the making. The economic team of the government is claimed to erase and add measures taxing even the tail of my cat, should it found to be longer than 22 cm (it is 23 cm!)
I will report about it when it is ready.
But so much to start with , as “an appetizer” so to say: the luxury tax will be implemented again for cars above 2000cc, helicopters, swimming pools and yachts and thus retroactive as of 1.1.2013. The final tax to be paid has not published yet.
PS I hope you didn’t buy a bigger car in 2012 thinking the luxury tax was abolished the year before.
