Tsipras -Merkel: to meet or not to meet Thursday in Brussels?

A meeting between Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will take place at 3:30pm (Greek time) at the sideline of the European Leaders Summit on Migration, government sources in Athens told media. However government sources in Berlin say that they neither confirm nor deny.

According to the German side, there has not be any Greek request for a meeting but if there would be any, Angela Merkel would accept.

The EU Leaders Summit on Thursday may  focus on Migration but Greece  except from Migration  has to race and gain political support for the Eurogroup meeting on Friday.

Greeks say that the solution to the Greek debt problem is “political”.

PS political solution with conservative EU-partners? I don’t think so…

  1. The situation has turned into high media drama. Everyone and anyone has a daily bit of conflicting information (if you can call it that). Reminds me of a long running bit on the US comedy program Saturday Night Live’s parody of TV news called “Weekend Update” back in the 1970s. They would wrap up the “news” with a recap of the top stories, and for months that would include:

“General Francisco Franco is still dead”.
