Amid the cold war between Greece and the International Monetary Fund over the Wikileaks and the conclusion of Greek program Review, European Stability Mechanism Chief Klaus Regling said today that he “estimates Greek bailout review will conclude by end of April or early May.”
“My hope is that we will be able to conclude this review in early May, before the Orthodox Easter,” Regling told reporters in Luxembourg. However, he later clarified that he hoped the review could be concluded by the end of April. (via Euronews)
Regling reiterated that talks on debt relief can start only after the successful conclusion of the Greek reforms review.
Klaus Regling claimed that “Ireland, Portugal and Greece would “very likely” left the Euro if the emergency fund ESM had not been created.”
Independently of what Regling thinks and estimates, Review talks are taken place in Athens at the level of “technical teams” as everybody is waiting for the meeting between IMF’s Christine Lagarde and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin this afternoon. Their joint press conference is scheduled for 7 pm (8 pm GR time)
PS Reimnder to Regling: Greek Orthodox Easter is on May 1st, so we hope our Holy Easter won’t be spoiled….
