Gov’t opens window for Postal Vote for “brain drain” Greeks

The Greek government has opened a small window for the possibility that Greeks living abroad to participate in elections through postal voting. Government spokesman, Dimitris Tzanakopoulos, said on Tuesday “the government has made clear from the very beginning that it is positive to the possibility of postal voting to the brain drain Greeks.”

However, the government spokesman did not elaborate on the issue except saying that the government is to take initiative in the next phase.

Estimated more than 400,000 young and educated Greeks have left the country in the times of economic crisis and high unemployment, in the biggest brain drain Greece has ever experienced.
