While the majority of Greek expats has been evacuated from Libya there are still 10 Greeks, 20 Greek Cypriots and38 Europeans enclosed in the dessert at a construction site. Time is pressing as international organisations have called for sanctions against Libya, even a flight embargo.
This morning 2,900 evacuees arrived from Libya to the port of Heraklion on Crete. the majority of them are Chinese nationals. Greek passengers ships are to evacuate a total of 15,000 Chinese after a request from Beijing.
