Two ships collided inside the port of Souda, in western Crete, on Tuesday morning. Both the ferry and the Ro-Eo cargo ship were leaded with vehicles, with the first having onboard also passengers sailing to the post of Piraeus.
Nobody was injured, no sea pollution has been recorded, so far, and both ships have minor damages.
Passengers remain onboard until further notice.
With 100 passengers on board and loaded with 32 cars and 74 trucks, passenger ferry ELYROS was leaving the port of Souda for its daily schedule. There it collided with Ro Ro cargo Iosif K. transporting 84 trucks.

According to information, at the time that the Elyros was sailing from the port, the Cargo was maneuvering to dock in the port. That is when the accident occurred.
The Ro Ro Cargo docked at the port in the presence of the port authorities, who are investigating the exact circumstances under which the accident occurred.
Both ships were prohibited from sailing until they were inspected and a seaworthiness certificate was issued by the classification society.
The port authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact causes and circumstances under which the maritime accident occurred, while an inspection is expected to be carried out for any material damage to the two ships.
The ship Elyros has reportedly scrapes, while the Iosif K has damage to the bow.
