German FinMIn: Greece’s 6th Tranche Decision on Oct 13th

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble decided on his own when the Eurogroup meeting will take place and take decisions about Greece’s sixth tranche! According to German DIE ZEIT online, Schaeuble said:

“Greece’s 6th tranche will be decided during Eurogroup’s Oct 13 extra meeting. It will be paid only if conditions are met.”

Should the Eurogroup decision makers give green light for the 8 billion euro, the money transfer can be done electronically within 24-48 hours (?), I heard. That would be high time because it has been allegedly reported that the country runs out of money on mid October and Athens will be unable to pay civil servants salaries and pensions to all pensioners. It has been claimed in the Greek press that there might up to 10 days payments delay should the tranche money won’t arrive in time.

For superstitious KTH-readers: October 13th 2011 falls on a Thursday. Not on a Friday (western culture), neither on a Tuesday (Eastern culture)!
