A middle-aged woman and her son have been found dead in a pool of blood in the family home in Aigialeia by Aigion in Peloponnese at noon on Tuesday.
Both victims, aged 54 and 26, have suffered multiple stab wounds.
The mother’s partner, a 65-year-old Italian national is being questioned by the police.
An alarm has been raised at the police authorities in Aigio, after a 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son were found dead in their home in Longos village.
According to media information, the two victims were found inside their home. A forensic pathologist has arrived at the scene to examine the circumstances of their deaths.
Citing police sources, media reported that two knives were found in the garden, while in addition only the son had also a wound caused by a shooting weapon.
The 26-year-old son returned home two days ago from Germany, where he was studying for his master’s degree.
As part of the preliminary investigation, police are taking statements and collecting evidence from the scene, while information indicates that a 65-year-old man from Italy is being questioned. The man was in relationship with the 54-year-old woman and he was also living together with her for a couple of years.
The man has reportedly denied being involved in any crime and claimed that he found them dead. According to Mega TV Live News, he claimed that he was sleeping and has not been aware of anything. He told police that he immediately informed the neighbors by telling them that “I found them dead, I don’t know what to do”.
It is noted that the son was from her woman’s first marriage and had sold some plots a year ago for a good sum of money.
The son was shot in the head while he was sleeping then stabbed 5 to 7 times in the abdomen. The body of the mother was found at the son’s bedroom door., she was stabbed also in the abdomen approximately 15 times, while she had defense marks.
So far, there has been no official announcement about the exact causes or the circumstances under which the double crime occurred.
Authorities’ investigations are in full swing, both inside the house and in the surrounding area, while all possibilities regarding the double murder are being examined.
The Italian partner is reportedly detained as the main suspect.
