Greek media: mystery over alleged kidnapping in Exarchia

A veil of mystery is covering an “kidnapping” incident that allegedly occurred last Saturday night at Exachia district of Athens.  Citing eyewitnesses, Greek media report of a group of 25-30 people dressed in black and holding guns entered a bar in the area and kidnapped a man. His identity has not been revealed up to now.

“A group of 25-30 people passed through the crowded square, raising fire arms. They entered a bar, put a hood on a man and kidnapped him. They left the area on foot.

According to some eyewitness, the men wore masks and carried heavy weapons, but not guns or revolvers as some other eyewitness claimed.

Neither the Greek Police nor the local police station at Exarchia confirm the alleged incident and declare to have no knowledge about it.” (ethnos.gr)

So far no complaint about a missing person has been filed to authorities.

According to newsit.gr,  a Kurdish man sought by Turkish police was taken violently from Exarchia and found himself in a cell of Anti-terror Department in Istanbul 18 hours later.

Exarchia district in downtown Athens has been the center of anti-authoritarian movement and has been often the hot spot of clashes between anti-authoritarians and police in the past.
