Athens Airport: Voting Screens for the Return of Parthenon Marbles

Passengers in Athens Airport Eleftherios Venizelos had the opportunity to participate in so-called “interactive referendum” and vote YES or NO for the Return of The Parthenon Marbles. The application screens are place in four spots in Arrivals (one) and Departures (three) halls of Athens International Airport.

 “Are you in favor of the return of the Parthenon Marbles? YES or NO”.
The application is easy to operate with a touch screen,  instructions are in Greek and English.

According to initial results of the voting with participation of 129 passengers,

                    125 voted YES
                        4 voted NO
KTG understands the application was launched on Nov 18/2014, initial results were given to media on Nov 19/2014.

“We believe that the airport as a crossroads of cultures is an ideal place to properly reflect the views of  Athens visitors on an issue concerning the broader world of cultural heritage,” said Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communications and Marketing at Athens airport.
