Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis will meet with European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi and and German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. The Greek FinMin announced his upcoming appointments in Germany speaking to reporters while in Rome today, Athens News Agency reports.
State NERIT TV reported that there will be no joint statements after the meeting with Mario Draghi in Frankfurt on Wednesday.
The meeting with Wolfgang Schaeuble is expected with great anticipation due to the rigid position of Germany. However, Chancellor Angela Merkel hinted Tuesday, that Germany will wait to hear the Greek positions.
“German Chancellor Angela Merkel has reacted cautiously to the proposals of the new Greek government to debt-swap.
“I do not want to comment now on everything what we read nowadays. It is clear that the Greek government is still working out its positions. This is more than understandable when you see that the government is only a few days in office.” (STERN.de)
