Unionists of Communist Party clash with police in Athens (video)

Members PAME, the union of Greek Communist party KKE clashed with police on Friday morning as they attempted to come close to the office of the Prime Minister. Police fired tear gas and stun grenades after protesters broke the police cordon. But protesters were not discouraged and ended up delivering hand-to-hand combat with police.

According to iefimeria.gr, the riot police also beat two senior protesters. the picture below show how riot policemen have ‘trapped’ a senior protester and push him to the ground, while a second protester beats a riot policeman on the back in an attempt to make the release of his comrade possible.

One of the protesters reportedly was taken to hospital.

Some hours earlier, members of PAME pretending to be “tourists” managed to occupy the Herodoy toy Attikoy street where the PM’s office is located. The unionists arrived with three ‘tourist buses’ as only these busses are allowed to drive through. Suddenly, the buses halted and the unionists got off. They raised banners against the Pension Reforms.

One senior protester reportedly fainted during the heat of the moment, his comrades provided him with first aid.
