This was certainly a surprise. Eurgogroup head Jeroen Dijsselbloem made an unexpected statement: that the issue of the Greek debt relief would start once the 3. bailout review is successfully concluded. This could happen sometime in April.
Dijsselbloem’s statement was a surprise because Greece’s European creditors, that is German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble first of all, were against the “debt relief” that the International Monetary Fund has been proposing all the time.
Of course, Dijsselbloem would not have made such a statement without Schaeuble’s blessing. Yet some questions remain: did they take the decision without informing Greece? Probably not. Were Greece’s EZ creditors not aware of this decisions? Hardly. Is this a bait to lure the IMF to join the Greek program? Probably, Yes. And in case, the IMF did not get the message, Dijsselbloem repeated it once again… apparently in a set up scene with EU Monetary Commissioner Pierre Moscovici, who claimed to have been also “surprised”.
After the press conference, Moscovici & Dijsselbloem chatted relaxed with each other, the microphones were still on… but journalists were around and the surprise was rather ‘stupid’.

Moscovici: “I think you’ve launched a huge debate, a huge debt debate, on debt relief.”
Dijsselbloem: “Ah, but it has to happen. I did it on purpose.”
PS ah, but it had to be so obvious of a set up by a pathetic director…
Exactly who is going to forgive debt? Banks? IMF? EU taxpayers that funded the bailout of banks that did bad investments in Greece? Questions, questions…
Also the ESM chief said something this direction last week in London:
“Eurogroup has committed to discuss additional debt relief, not a haircut, but additional debt relief.”
Dijsselbloem is sly (poniros). He plays very dirty games. I wouldn’t believe a thing until it actually happens and up to now very few things have happened..
DieselFlower is a piece of excrement, who even lied about his university qualifications. Nothing he does or says should be taken seriously: he is a wooden puppet responding to the strings directing him.
The magic bullet is:
“… once the 3. bailout review is successfully concluded”.
Which would you really prefer, (1) insane bailout 3 measures – or – (2) cheapskates’ fakey debt relief as before?
Please get it into your heads, there will be NO real, meaningful debt relief until the day we repudiate the debt. And a lot will have to happen before then…
