The Pope was right. But he is the Pope and he can say that what politicians do not dare to. Condemning the Brussels attacks, Pope Francis said on Maundy Thursday:
“Behind that gesture (in Brussels) there are arms producers, arm dealers, traffickers who want blood, not peace. All of us here say we are different, we have different cultures and religions, but we are brothers and we want to live in peace.”
This year, Pope Francis carried out the Maundy Thursday ritual of washing and kissing the feet among refugees in a shelter in Rome. Women included.
